From cycling to cinema and more!

The Community Investment Fund ‘Do Something Now’ rounded off the 2021-22 financial year in style by awarding more than £50k to Kirklees Third Sector organisations.

The funding was divided between organisations from around Kirklees to support a variety of projects and activities for people of all ages.

YPD Community CIC have entered into a partnership with our Everybody Active service to deliver fitness and well-being sessions for school-aged in the Ashbrow area.

From young people to a wonderful project for people of all ages, funding also went to PKWA based in Batley to launch a cinema club celebrating the culture and communities of South Asia through film.

Mindfulness workshops were funded as part of the offering from the Chill & Chat Café based in Heckmondwike town centre and Rainbow Baby Bank received money to promote their Kirklees-wide services supplying families and mums-to-be with baby essentials and children’s clothing.

SKY Positive Minds were also supported for a project with mental health in mind entitled Wellbeing Adventure aimed at women and children from around North Kirklees.

Mencap in Kirklees received support for Super Tuesdays which run at Jo Cox House in Batley and provide a lifeline for people with learning disabilities and / or autism.

Back on the theme of fitness and well-being, East Bierley Community Sporting Association were awarded a grant to develop a range of activities for girls and women.

We were also delighted that Panel awarded funding to West Yorkshire ADHD to run weekly Saturday morning sessions at Sensory World in Dewsbury for families affected by ADHD.

And finally, Street Bikes were supported to run women-only cycling sessions which are already proving to be a huge success!

Wellness and Community Plus wish all the newly funded groups every success with their projects serving the people of Kirklees.
