International Women’s Day 2022 @ Diamond Wood Community Academy

On Friday 4th March the local community of Dewsbury and Ravensthorpe gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day 2022. The event was held at Diamond Wood Community Academy and attended by over 150 parents, children and members of the local community. Kirklees Wellness Service, Community Plus, Prevent, RASAC, Road Safety, Kirklees Apprenticeships, S2R, Community Cohesion, Uniform Exchange and Locala were just some of the local services to also join in the festivities.

Attendees we able to enjoy cakes and refreshments, a raffle, music, a dance performance and creative activities while discussing personal and community needs and looking at the different types of support services available to them.

Many people took the opportunity to talk to the Wellness Coaches from Kirklees Wellness Service about their health and wellbeing and were able to refer themselves in for free no-cost support, in areas such as mental wellbeing, carers support, smoking cessation and healthy weight. Wellness writing pads, water bottles and pens were also on offer for those who stopped by the stall.

All of the services that attended were able to touch base with one another after the pandemic, discuss new found community needs and further strengthen connections for joined-up working across all of Dewsbury. Overall, the event was a big success and was a great morning enjoyed by all.
